The new admiring the old. The traction engine replaced the heavy Horse, but the engine drivers still sometimes remembered their time using horses. This piece of digital art was composited from several photos. The original base photo looked like :-
Just paying around. This composite of 5 photos and some brushwork, textures etc just seem to come about. I started off with the car (taken on an old instamtic) and had the story in my mind of a WW2 pilot showing off his new car to his girlfriend. It just grew from there. 🙂
Today’s piece of milltary art, I call this one ‘Convoy’. I was trying to give the impression of an old WW2 photo of an American tank convoy on small English country roads, being buzzed by a pair of Spitfires in a playful mood.
The vehicles and aircraft were photographed at many different airshows and the tanks are a 1:72 Airfix model of A Sherman Tank that I have photographed and then ‘weathered’ in the painting.
